<p>Megève can lay claim to being the first French purpose-built
ski resort - although the predominant style of picturesque wooden chalets
is very diifferent to the styles used in the more modern French resorts!</p>
<p > Originally modelled on St Moritz and built in the 1920's, the charming
town soon became a popular meeting place for the rich and famous. Although
the jet-set may have moved on, Megève's charm remains and still attracts
a good number of visitors. New building and improvements have been carried
out in line with the style and atmosphere of the original village - even
the McDonalds is quaint !</p>
