If you're looking for an alternative to the Val Cenis ski area, I recommend considering Les Gets or Morzine, both part of the expansive Portes du Soleil ski area, offering diverse terrain and family-friendly options. Here are a few options for your family of five:

You've said 'open to suggestions' on location so please read on if so 
I have availability from the 26th of Jan for the week with a double and triple room available. The price for the 5 of you would be £3745.
Where are we:
The chalet is based in Montriond, 1km flat walk, from the centre of Morzine in the heart of the Portes Du Soleil, perfect for a little après ski. The Portes Du Soleil is a collection of resorts and we can help you to ski one or all of them, with a fantastic mix slopes for all abilities.
The Chalet:
Has 5 en suite rooms, sleeping up to 14 with a hot tub and a sauna. There is a second lounge and ample comfy space to chill. We offer a catered service with 7 breakfasts (5 served hot breakfasts), 7 afternoon teas. On 5 evenings we will treat you to delicious 5 course dinners with unlimited wine and beer. Our aim is to do all we can to maximise your enjoyment and minimise any stressful moments.

Chalet La Ferme is available for your dates. It is a luxury self catered chalet 10 minutes from Morzine in the heart of the Porte Du Soleil Region.
The chalet sleeps 8; 2 master bedrooms with ensuite and 2 twin rooms that share a bathroom.
The chalet has a large open plan living area on the top floor with fabulous mountain views, bedrooms on the middle floor and a bar area with pool table on the ground floor plus a hottub on the terrace with panoramic mountain views.
The chalet is €680 per night plus €350 one off service charge. I can offer a 10% discount, making a week @4,634 if you book within the week.

If you are flexible on location then we would love to welcome you to our Swiss chalet, La Bergère, this winter!
La Bergère is located in the beautiful Val d'Anniviers, a hidden gem in the Swiss Alps, with a similar sort of feel to Val Cenis (having also skied there a few times!). There are 220 kilometres of high, quiet slopes, mostly between 2000 and 3000 metres in altitude, set against a backdrop of iconic peaks.
The chalet has been renovated to a very high standard, providing comfortable accommodation and spectacular mountain views. It is situated in a traditional and picturesque village 10 minutes from the slopes of Grimentz-Zinal and St Luc-Chandolin, all covered by the same ski pass. A free ski bus stops 100 metres from the chalet and we can also offer a lift to the slopes.
We can offer a twin room and our deluxe dortoir (which is split into 2 pods) from either 25th or 26th January for a total price of 3,950 Swiss francs. Included:

Our Chalet-Hotel Les Rhododendrons in snow sure Plagne 1800 is part of the Paradiski area, next to the slopes and two chair lifts taking you to pistes suiting all abilities. The ski school meeting point is just across the street from us.
We provide half board EVERY day and an excellent range of facilities including
